He has practiced urology in Asheville since 1982. Dr. Armstrong's special interests include the treatment and prevention of kidney stones and prostate disease. Dr. Armstrong is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the American Urological Association.

Rick L. Bare, M.D., F.A.C.S.

A native of West Jefferson, NC, Dr. Bare completed his undergraduate studies at Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC. He remained on the teaching faculty of the Wake Forest University Department of Urology as a member of a Multidisciplinary Urologic Oncology Team before moving to Asheville. Dr. Bare has practiced urology in Asheville since 1998. Dr. Bares special interests include the treatment and prevention of kidney stones, the diagnosis and treatment of genitourinary cancer, and vasectomy procedures. Dr. Bare is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the American Urological Association.

Dr. Bare is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

Dr. Cargill's special interests include female pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence, kidney stones, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer. Dr. Cargill is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the American Urological Association.

James C. Brien, M.D.

A native of Central Texas, Dr. Brien completed his undergraduate studies at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. Dr. Brien previously practiced in Philadelphia where he expanded the robotic & laparoscopic surgery programs at two community hospitals to encompass urologic conditions. He has practiced Urology in Asheville since 2013. Dr. Brien also has special interest in complementary medicine, expanding treatment options for most urologic conditions to include both a traditional medicine and alternative medicine pathway. Dr. Brien is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the American Urological Association.

A native of Albemarle, NC, Dr. Burris attended NC State University for his undergraduate studies. Dr. Burris joins Asheville Urological Associates following the completion of his urology residency at the University of Virginia, where he served as the Chief Urology Resident. Dr. Burris’ special interests include the diagnosis and treatment of genitourinary cancers, robotic/laparoscopic surgery, hypogonadism (low T), infertility including vasectomy and vasectomy reversals, treatment and prevention of kidney stones, and management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Dr. Burris is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA).
